This is quite an interesting personality test.  Do it and see what you get at the end!

planning stuff is challenging on my own strength

I'm planning a trip to South America for later this year.  It's an exciting prospect but trying to get the tour organised as part of a group of 4 people has been a headache so far.  I reckon there must be enough complications, changes and new developments to write a pilot episode for a TV sitcom!

I came to realise my angst stemmed from the fact that without knowing the tour dates I would have trouble booking my plane tickets.  The thing with my tickets, as distinct from everyone else's, is that I'm using frequent flyer (FF) points.  If you've ever had experience with FF programs, you'll know they're an absolute pot-luck affair.  Other people in the group tell me to relax because there are plenty of [paid] seats to go to South America.  They don't realise I'm worried because of the availability of FF seats and how often these things fluctuate!

I've been told by one person to relax because my worrying affects them.  Their job is quite important so I guess I'm indirectly helping them do their job better in allowing her to focus on her work and not on the trip.

Trusting it all to God is something I let-slip so I should stop, re-focus and leave it to Him to sort out.  If I'm meant to go then everything will fall into place when the time comes!

gong xi fa cai!

Happy Chinese New Year to all reading this post.  I had a quiet dinner with my aunty's family on Saturday night.  The highlight of the gathering were two particular dishes - Marmite spare-ribs and Nestum prawns.  It was fantabulous!  I especially liked the prawns.  The garnishing that came with them were absolutely yummy scrummy.  It was crunchy and had a somewhat sweet after-taste.  Shiok!

We rounded out the night with a couple of hours playing Blackjack.  My aunty, uncle, cousin, Mum and I all started out with 200pts worth of chips but by the end of the night we'd all taken over so many 'loans' and I'd personally owed people around the table so much I couldn't keep track of it all!  Fortunately, it was all in the name of fun and no actual money came to be exchanged at the end of the night's proceedings.  Phew!    It definitely was a great night for all and something I look forward to more of in future.

What did you get up to over CNY?

grow on me...ultimately

I listened to the new Switchfoot album and must admit mixed feelings about the album.  The title song weighs in at a feather-weight 2min 30sec but is quite catchy.  Overall, it's a new sound for the band that I'm still getting used to.  Though I still love Nothing is Sound as an album I want to give Oh! Gravity a chance to grow on me.

I've been a staunch Shell Optimax fuel user [now known as V-Power here in Australia] for a long time but I've had second thoughts.  There was a lunch-room discussion yesterday around this topic with a focus on motorcycle riders.  A couple of colleagues ride motorbikes and said that the general consensus in the 2-wheeled motoring community was that Optimax was bad for their engines as it contributed to grime build-up, etc.  They said BP Ultimate fuel of the same RON rating, 98, was better and that their engines didn't ping when using this fuel.

Further, overall view in the motoring community was that quality of fuel; how completely it burns; and, how much power you could get out of it favoured BP Ultimate, Mobil Synergy 8000 and then Shell Optimax [in that order].  I've come across forums on the Web to support this

So I think I'll try a tankful of Ultimate the next time I fill up.

oh! gravity

w00t!  Switchfoot's new album, Oh! Gravity, is out now.  Okay, so it was released in the US on December 26th 2006 but I only just found out about it and it's so excitement!  I'm going to get it tonight after work.

I'll post thoughts after I have a listen to it.  I've heard the preview on YouTube.  Check it out!
